Bit Funk is one of my favorite underground EDM artist. He usually has wonderful melodic tunes that are easy to love but highly complex. Hailing in from Brooklyn NY, his music is not to be slept on, it’s almost fair to say he’s one of the best in the underground circuit. Here’s a couple of tracks, he will be performing February 22, 2014 at the Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn NY for just $12. I’m sure the show will be a lot of fun and will be a chance to dance to some sweet music. If you can, don’t miss out.
Who remembers Super Nintendo’s 1995 cult video game Earthbound? If you don’t, its ok, just take notice that its where Super Smash Brother’s character, Ness is from. Anyway, the music from the game is epic, so epic in fact that a remix was made for one of the most memorable levels-Snowman.
He wears a mask like Yo! on the Gong Show
MF DOOM, DOOM, Madvillian, JJ DOOM, Viktor Vaughn, Metal Fingers, Zev Love X, King Geedorah is a hip hop rapper/ “super producer” from Long Island, New York. He began his career in 1991 with the rap group KMD and appearing at multiple open mic sessions with a stocking cap over his face obscuring is facial features. Soon after, he took on the persona MF DOOM after Marvel comic books villain Doctor Doom and since then is rarely seen with out it. Either it be a media appearance, concert tour, or a picture with a fan, he wears his metal mask. In 1993 his older brother was struck by a car and killed on Nassau Expressway while crossing it and for a period of time DOOM left the hip hop scene. In 1997, he came back with vengeance stating that he was swearing revenge “against the industry that so badly deformed him”. His strange appearance also reflects his music. Usually his music is chock full of unconventional hip hop beats, and a rhyme approach that is very hard to label. It’s almost like he rhymes in patterns or in a off beat manner that somehow magically compliments his production. DOOM is truly one of a kind and is not for the faint of heart or those that label themselves as “normal“. Not only does he talk about issues people typically ignore in rap music such as, stereotypes and male chauvinism, he mocks it. He is a reflection of how weird people can be sometimes . He represents being an outcast, he lives in the underbelly of all things strange and he’s hear for you to listen.

I am so excited about this new track from Silversun Pickups, it’s shoegaze, alternative with a twist of electric rock. It’s just as catchy as their usual songs, but still nothing you will constantly hear on the radio. I first heard of Silversun in 2006 while in high school with their debut track “Lazy Eye” and I instantly loved them. I followed them for years and when I met my girlfriend 4 years ago, she would constantly debate that the lead singer sounded like a girl. Here’s a refresher of their debut track “Lazy Eye” and their newest “Cannibal”. Let me know what you think!
Something for your afternoon commute that will keep you moving. Once again, i have supplied another track from French producer extraordinaire, Monsieur Adi. The song heavily incorporates strings, with striking electric guitar riffs to move the pace along. It quite mesmerizing. It also will guarantee to have you singing along in no time. Unlike most electronic produced features, A*M*E can really sing. The 18 year singer has a voice that engulfs a listener like velvet. She can control it within different ranges and doesn’t overwhelmed with Adi‘s production. I believe this song is one for the ipod, even if you may not think so, at least give it a listen.
Here’s a smooth way to start your weekend, this is a new cut from underground Nu-Disco producer -Oxford. If you listen closely, you can hear the sampling from Cassie’s 2006 hit “Me and You“, you’ve got to love the quick change in grammar. hope you all enjoy!
Now who doesn’t love a good Lana Del Ray remix? I know i do. There are so many weak and mediocre remixes of her songs, I have only found a few remixes that really make her voice standout. I mean her voice does really standout, but i believe what stands out more is her hipster/pinup style. With certain remixes, (especially this extremely dark remix), her style isn’t standout aspect of the song. Monsieur Adi masterfully incorporates heavy strings and light drums to evoke a eerily cold feeling. For best results….Listen in dark or at least when the sun goes down. What do you think? One of the best remixes every heard?
