#WhatUshouldBlistening2 : Indie Hip Hop Edition pt 1

Hey ya’ll I just completed my next mixing project. And If i do say so myself it’s better than my my first. I have complied a few of my favorite indie / underground hip hop artist that I think you should be listening to. They all incredible libraries of work and most importantly they are some of the few hip hop artists trying to keep the culture of hip hop alive. Most of these artists I have already mentioned on my site, while some not yet. This mixtape gives more of a concept of what hip hop moves me now. There most always be a balance, right now there is pop rap with Future and Drake, but then you have artists like P.so and XV balancing out the content.
I have listed the tracks below, do yourself a favor and look them up, each one of these artist have incredible mixtapes and albums available.

It has been too long, My man XV and friends are back with a new track for 2014. Using the production off of DOM KENNEDY’S The Yellow Album, they give it a Squarian twist.

XV- Wichita (prod. Just Blaze)

This is the first track off the incredible mixtape ZERO HEROES from the incomparable musical artist XV. This mixtape should be an album i believe. The production is not only top notch, but its original and fresh. There are elements in the production that feature, songs from the 40s and even somehow a sample from the popular game Kingdom Hearts 2. XV’s lyrics are stellar and extremely clever. His main instrument of content is popular culture from the 90s and “nerd’ culture. If you think for a second that his lyricism is impaired by his subject matter, you are surely mistaken. XV can be considered sharper than you favorite artist in any music genre. Now keep in mind, this mixtape is approximately three years old, but it doesn’t dull its quality. Within the next few weeks i will upload some more of his work. So if you can, download this free mixtape on datpiff.com and don’t miss out.
